"It's really not about you. Sorry." by Joe

I was in Phoenix giving a presentation to people who work for the Migrant Education Program all over the state, and I tried to take Kathy's advice. Didn't even introduce myself. Tried to make it more about what they can take away from the presentation than what I have done that is important or interesting.

I'm happy to say that the presentation was very well received and many people found it beneficial and inspiring. Thank you Alec and Kathy.

"The Quarterlife Crisis" by KTG

I think that's the whole point of the article, really. Summed up at the end, "it might just be time to grow the fuck up."
However, I do think it's important to consider the factors that the article mentions in terms of the historical value, of our time and place, and how the support that our parents and grandparents had just isn't there.
We are a more isolating society, and I think that has a HUGE effect on what we feel we are capable of. (which ultimately doesn't that have to do with what we actually are capable of?)
But I must say I do agree, we are some of the most blessed persons on the face of the planet, compared to other countries and compared to others throughout history. (have I said that before?)
The question of more importance, is what are we going to do with that priveledge?

Woah boy. You hit the nail right on the head for me. I was going through some serious soul searching a few weeks ago when grad school just seemed like it would never end. Then I came to these realizations as well. We are all extraordinarily fortunate people.

"Prologue" by KTG

why thank you for the welcome. interesting how far backwards one must go to get to the beginning. not really like a book at all.

It's a bizarre type of time travel again. to think, that someone you met in 2009 is commenting on words you wrote 3 and half years ago.

in any case, thanks for the intro!

When the economy tanks, that directly affects retail and retail is your company's bread and butter.

"Around the World: Part Five" by rlalonde@wildblue.net

Alec, great story and great photos, too. I've finally had a chance to catch up with your adventures. Despite the altitude issues, I'm sure you had a blast. Your tale reminds me of a western paddling cruise (Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho) that I took with a bunch of fellow paddlers when I was 27. Same initial trepidation, same exaltation in the paddling done.
Cheers, Daddyo
